Use of the latest technology in the provision of nuclear security

The government is fully aware of the suitability of the construction of nuclear power plants to address the growing electricity demand in Bangladesh and to progress the country's macroeconomic development. The government and its organizations, the Bangladesh Atomic Energy Commission, have given the utmost importance to nuclear safety in the choice of nuclear reactor technology. The present government has entered into an agreement with the Russian Federation to set up a nuclear power plant in Rupur, which has decided to install the latest version of the VVER type reactor family. Bangladesh has the freedom to customize its nuclear security features after picking up technology and determining power generation capabilities. That is, the government of Bangladesh has taken initiative to build the latest technology of VVER family in Rupur. The technology will include any of the latest nuclear safety features developed by the Russian Federation.

The Ruppur Nuclear Power Project is being taken forward by taking necessary actions in a proper manner, taking into account all domestic and international obligations and following international norms. In this regard, starting from human resource development to ensuring the safety of the reactor, maintaining the balance of the environment and related issues, the project work is being done with utmost importance. In order to implement the nuclear power program, a country needs to have a long-term national decision. Rupur nuclear power project can be ensured only if all the people involved in the implementation of the Rupur nuclear power project, the national level policy makers and professionals of all levels, the need for implementation of the project is undoubtedly established and the timely efforts to implement the project with integrity. The VVER type reactor built in Rupur will have the following five levels of safety features.

As a result, the reactor will be able to withstand any human-caused accidents and any natural disasters, such as strong cyclones, earthquakes, floods, etc. The following picture shows the various disasters caused by human and nature. The reactor built in Ruppur will be able to deal with these accidents and generate electricity.
