Bangladesh's entry into the world of nuclear power
Considering the growing power demand in the country, there is no alternative to ensuring electricity supply in order to improve the socio-economic life of the country. At present, the country's energy and power sectors are mainly dependent on gas. Natural gas and coal reserves are very limited in our country. As a result, Bangladesh has to rely heavily on import-dependent liquid petroleum for power generation. The use of natural gas as fuel is disrupting the production of petrochemicals, disrupting fertilizer production for agriculture and importing LP gas. There is a lot of foreign currency spending on oil and coal imports. Electricity generation is increasing, but the problem remains. Farming and the establishment of new industrial plants, above all, we need more and more electricity to improve the living conditions of the country. In view of these issues, the present government has taken effective steps for the development of energy and power sectors through the establishment of a suitable fuel-mix. By 2021, the country plans to produce 6 percent of the total power generation by setting up a nuclear power plant and work is underway to implement it. This is certainly one of the best efforts of the present government.
The initiative was taken to build a nuclear power plant in our country. For this purpose, the construction of 12 residential units, including land development, office, rest house and construction of electric sub-station, was completed partly by acquiring about 20 acres of land for the project area and 12 acres for residential area in Pabna district. After checking the many possibilities of implementation of the project, the related activities were stopped due to the inevitability of the project being approved by the then government in 1-3. After independence, Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman took initiative to implement the project. 5-7 M. come. The feasibility study was completed by Sopartom, approved by the German economy for the approval of the nuclear power plant project (120 MW) by Eknech and the implementation of the joint venture. Another feasibility study was carried out in Germany, Switzerland, and Germany in 1-3. At the end of the 3 ্য initiative was initiated to start pre-preparatory activities for the construction of nuclear power plants. Despite the aforementioned initiatives to implement the project, it has not been implemented due to various restrictions and greater reliance on fossil fuels and due to lack of appropriate measures. The government took strong steps to implement the project in the first phase of the year and it was recommended to implement the Rupur Nuclear Power Project in the National Energy Policy. At a meeting chaired by the then Prime Minister of the then Government of the Government on October 5, the decision was taken to accelerate the implementation of the Rupur nuclear power project. In the light of the recommendations of the IAEA, a pre-implementation phase of the Rupur nuclear power project, especially for the preparation of site security reports and human resource development, was undertaken. Bangladesh Nuclear Power Action Plan was approved by the government in the 21st. The Government took the time to implement the "Vision-2021" - the highest priority for the energy and power sector development - to ensure 20,700 MW of power generation by 2021. In this connection, a consensus was signed between the Government of the People's Republic of Bangladesh and the Russian Federation on the 'peaceful use of nuclear power' on May 7, the signing of the Framework Agreement on May 28, and on November 12, each estimated power generation at Ruppur. Collaborating on setting up two nuclear power plants with two units The father is signing the contract. On January 7, a contract of $ 1 million was signed for State Export Credit to carry out the preparatory phase construction work of the Rupur nuclear power plant. As per the agreement stated, the technology provider company will supply the latest electric furnace of the VVER family with all the security features suitable for the Rupur project. The company is currently engaged in various preparatory work in the Ruppur project area.
The much-anticipated Rupur nuclear power plant will have a positive role in improving the quality of life of the people. The establishment of new industries will bring about radical change. Will make the wheel of the economy of the country more vibrant and stronger. Environment will help protect people from pollution.
