Freaky is an upcoming American slasher comedy film directed by Christopher Landon, from a screenplay by Landon and Michael Kennedy. It serves as a spin-off film in the Happy Death Day universe.[1] It stars Vince Vaughn and Kathryn Newton. Jason Blum serves as a producer under his Blumhouse Productions banner.
The film is scheduled to be released on November 13, 2020, by Universal Pictures.
Premise
High school student Millie Kessler (Kathryn Newton) becomes the newest target of the Butcher (Vince Vaughn), an infamous serial killer, during her senior year. When the killer's magic dagger causes her to swap bodies with him, she discovers she has only a day to reverse the switch or else remain trapped as a middle-aged murderer hunted by the city, while the real killer – in her body – targets her classmates at Homecoming.

In early August 2019, it was announced that Christopher Landon would write and direct a new horror film, with Jason Blum serving as a producer under his Blumhouse Productions banner and Adam Hendricks serving as a producer under his Divide/Conquer banner. Specific plot details were not revealed, but the story would reportedly follow a violent figure wreaking havoc in a small town. Production was expected to begin in October in Atlanta, Georgia, and there was some speculation it could be a reboot of Scream. However, Landon later debunked rumors that the film was a remake of Scream, stating that the upcoming project was to be an original story taking inspiration from Mary Rodgers's Freaky Friday.
Later in August, it was announced that Kathryn Newton and Vince Vaughn had joined the cast of the film, with the screenplay being written by Landon and Michael Kennedy. In October 2019, Uriah Shelton, Alan Ruck, Katie Finneran, Celeste O'Connor and Misha Osherovich joined the cast of the film.
Filming
Principal photography lasted for 35 days under the original title Freaky Friday the 13th. It began on October 21, 2019, and finished on December 12, 2019.
Release
The film will have the world premiere at Beyond Fest on October 8, 2020, and is scheduled to be released in theaters on November 13, 2020.

Plot
Ava Faulkner, a trained assassin, eliminates an English businessman in France while a woman eavesdrops on her conversation with the target.
After completing the hit, Ava takes a flight to Boston, checks into a hotel and goes to meet her estranged sister Judy, where it is revealed that Ava ran away from her home eight years ago. Ava then pays a visit to her mother in hospital. Later, Ava flies to Riyadh for another mission: to kill a German general but make it look like a natural death.
Ava lures the general into a trap and injects him with a poison that would kill him in 15 minutes and make everyone believe he died of a heart attack. However, two subordinates break in and realizing she was given decoy intel, Ava slits the general's throat and shoots the two subordinates.
Following a brutal gunfight, Ava manages to escape and travels to Barneville-Carteret to meet with her supervisor and mentor, Duke, who is convinced what happened wasn't her fault and she'd be given some time off to recover. Ava returns to Boston where she later meets Michael, Judy's boyfriend. At a meeting, Ava confesses she is a former alcoholic who ran away to join the army because her father tried to frame her when she found out about his ex-marital affair.
In British Columbia, Duke meets with his superior, Simon, whose oldest daughter Camille earlier overheard Ava talking to her target. Simon is enraged that Ava talks to her targets and questions her abilities but Duke convinces him to leave her alone. However, it is revealed that the bad intel was no accident and Simon orders assassin Alain to kill Ava. Back in Boston, Alain tracks down Ava and attempts to kill her, but gets killed himself in the ensuing fight. Ava now confronts Duke who assures her it had nothing to do with the assassin organization she works for, and that Alain was a former French special forces soldier who was a drug addict and tried to mug her for money. That night, Ava goes to dinner with Judy and Michael but their conversation doesn't go well. The next morning, Judy meets Ava and tells her Michael isn't home. Realizing he's started gambling again, Ava rescues him from a gambling den run by a woman named Toni, to whom Michael is indebted. Following the fight, it is revealed that Michael was a former flame of Ava's and they had agreed to marry before she ran off. He also questions her fighting abilities but she brushes off his concerns.
Duke revisits Simon to reveal he knew Ava was set up. Soon, a fight ensues between the two, resulting in Simon overpowering Duke. Back in Boston, Ava tries to reveal her profession to her mother who realized her dead husband was at fault, and is no longer worried about Ava's profession and is proud of the woman Ava has become. On the other hand, Simon kills Duke and informs Ava about the same. A heartbroken Ava goes to Judy's house where she kisses Michael and invites him to run away with her but he declines, revealing Judy is pregnant. Ava then heads to Toni's den where she kills some of her men before dropping a bag of money for Toni to pay off Michael's debt. Ava reveals to Toni she is a paid assassin before strangulating her but changes her mind, deciding to let her live but warns her to stay away from Michael. Back to the hotel, Ava gets drunk and fights with Simon, who broke into her room. They brutally fight in the room with both sustaining injuries. The hotel fire alarm goes off and Simon decides to leave before telling her that he will kill her if he sees her again. Ava follows soon after and tracks down Simon on the street. She follows him and catches up to him first shooting him in the leg, and then killing him with a single shot to the head. Later, Ava goes to Judy's home and gives her and Michael money and access to an offshore bank account before telling them to flee the country. Confused by Ava's mysteriousness, Judy asks who she is and Ava doesn't reveal her true identity. Before leaving, Michael gives Ava a letter which had arrived for her. The letter is revealed to be from Duke professing that in the end, although he is dead, he is happy with the way his life turned out. As Ava leaves Judy's home, Camille appears behind her and follows her before the screen cuts to black.
Little Women is a 2019 American coming-of-age period drama film written and directed by Greta Gerwig. It is the seventh film adaptation of the 1868 novel of the same name by Louisa May Alcott. It chronicles the lives of the March sisters—Jo, Meg, Amy, and Beth—in Concord, Massachusetts, during the 19th century. It stars an ensemble cast comprising Saoirse Ronan, Emma Watson, Florence Pugh, Eliza Scanlen, Laura Dern, Timothée Chalamet, Meryl Streep, Tracy Letts, Bob Odenkirk, James Norton, Louis Garrel, and Chris Cooper.
Sony Pictures initiated development of the film in 2013, with Amy Pascal coming on board to produce in 2015 and Gerwig hired to write its screenplay the following year. Using Alcott's other writings as inspiration, Gerwig penned the script in 2018. She was made director that same year, with the film being the second she had solely directed. Filming took place from October to December 2018 in the state of Massachusetts, with editing commencing the day after filming wrapped.
Little Women premiered at the Museum of Modern Art in New York City on December 7, 2019, and was released theatrically in the United States on December 25, 2019, by Sony Pictures Releasing. The film received critical acclaim, with particular praise for Gerwig's screenplay and direction as well as the performances of the cast, and has grossed $216 million worldwide. Among its numerous accolades, the film received six nominations at the 92nd Academy Awards, including Best Picture, Best Actress (Ronan), Best Supporting Actress (Pugh), and Best Adapted Screenplay, and won for Best Costume Design. It also earned five nominations at the 73rd British Academy Film Awards, with a win for Best Costume Design, and two nominations at the 77th Golden Globe Awards.
Plot
In 1868, Jo March, a teacher in New York City, goes to Mr. Dashwood, an editor who agrees to publish a story she has written. Her youngest sister, Amy, who is in Paris with their Aunt March, attends a party with their childhood friend and neighbor, Laurie. Amy becomes angry at Laurie's drunken behavior, prompting him to mock her for spending time with wealthy businessman Fred Vaughn. In New York, Jo becomes hurt when Friedrich Bhaer, a professor infatuated with her, constructively criticizes her writing, causing her to end their friendship. After learning from a letter that her younger sister Beth's illness has worsened, Jo returns home to Concord, Massachusetts.
At a party with her older sister, Meg, seven years earlier, Jo befriends Laurie. On Christmas morning, the girls' mother, "Marmee", persuades them to give their breakfast to their poor neighbor Mrs. Hummel and her starving children. After returning home, they find a table full of food given to them by their neighbor and Laurie's grandfather, Mr. Laurence. Marmee then reads a letter from their father fighting in the American Civil War. Jo regularly visits Aunt March to read to her, hoping Aunt March would invite her to Europe.
When Meg, Jo, Laurie, and John—Laurie's tutor and Meg's eventual husband—go to the theatre, a jealous Amy burns Jo's writings. The next morning, Amy, wanting to make up with an upset Jo, chases her and Laurie onto a lake where the two are skating. They save Amy after she falls through the ice. Mr. Laurence notices Beth's quiet demeanor and invites her to play his late daughter's piano in his house. Meg sits down with John in the present after buying an expensive fabric they couldn't afford, during which she expresses her unhappiness about being poor. Laurie visits Amy to apologize for his behavior and urges her not to marry Fred but to marry him instead. Though in love with Laurie, Amy refuses, upset at always being second to Jo. Despite this, she turns down Fred's proposal.
Mr. Laurence gifts his piano to Beth in the past and discovers she has contracted scarlet fever from the Hummels. To avoid the illness, Amy is sent to stay with Aunt March, who advises her to provide for her family by marrying well. John urges Meg to turn the fabric into a dress in the present to make her happy. Meg reveals she had sold it and reassures him of her happiness as his wife. Beth recovers in time for Christmas in the past, during which their father returns home as well. After worsening in the present, Beth dies. On Meg's wedding day in the past, Jo tries to convince her to run away, but Meg expresses her elation to marry John. Aunt March announces her European trip but takes Amy instead of Jo. After the wedding, Laurie proposes to Jo, who rejects him, explaining that she does not see herself married.
Marmee reveals Amy is returning from Europe with an ill Aunt March in the present. Jo wonders whether she was too quick to turn Laurie down and writes him a letter. Preparing to leave, Amy tells Laurie she turned down Fred's proposal; they kiss and later marry on the journey home. Jo and Laurie agree to only be friends, after which she discards the letter she wrote to him. Jo begins to write a novel based on her and her sisters' lives and sends the first chapters to an unimpressed Mr. Dashwood. Bhaer surprises Jo by turning up at the March house on his way to California.
In New York, Mr. Dashwood agrees to publish Jo's novel after his daughters demand to know how it ends, but he refuses to accept the protagonist remaining unmarried in the end. To appease him, Jo ends her novel with the protagonist, herself, stopping Bhaer from leaving for California. She successfully negotiates copyright and royalties with Mr. Dashwood. Following Aunt March's passing, Jo inherits her house and opens it as a school, where Meg, Amy, and Bhaer all teach. Jo observes the printing of her novel, titled Little Women

Music
French composer Alexandre Desplat composed the score. Gerwig had been a fan of Desplat's score for the film Birth and aspired to work with him, while he "loved" Lady Bird. Desplat said in an interview that Gerwig specified that she would like the music to be "a mix of Mozart meeting Bowie", with her later saying that she had enlisted him for the "beautiful but not saccharine" and "exacting" qualities of his music.[48] He employed an orchestra that included a piano, harp, flute, clarinet, and celesta. The score was released on December 13, 2019.
Release
On June 19, 2019, Vanity Fair released the first stills, with the official trailer being released on August 13. Little Women had its world premiere at the Museum of Modern Art in New York City on December 7, 2019, and was also screened to open the Rio de Janeiro International Film Festival on December 9.[54] It was theatrically released in the United States on December 25, 2019, by Sony Pictures Releasing. Deadline Hollywood reported that Sony spent an estimated $70 million promoting the film.
Little Women was originally scheduled for a theatrical release in China on February 14, 2020, but this was scrapped due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The film was released digitally on March 10, 2020, and on DVD and Blu-ray on April 7. In May, Variety reported that it was once again intended for a China release at an unspecificed date following the pandemic. The film was released in Denmark and Japan in June after both countries re-opened their theaters following pandemic lockdowns. It was eventually released in China on August 25.
